Tradlands : Part II

For the second part of the Tradlands shoot, we wanted to try a different approach from the cozy, comfy way we featured the Jones St. Blue in Part I. I love how versatile oxfords shirts can be and Tradlands really takes the cake. They are just tailored enough to look professional but can morph into a great after work adventure shirt in an instant. We headed to a nearby horse farm for our adventure and found the perfect blend of preppy and outdoorsy. I love how the equestrian style is so very put together but also really rustic. There is something special about being dressed to the nines with mud on your boots. 

Tradlands is a clothing company based out of San Francisco specializing in lovely oxford shirts for women.

Houseplants

 

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love houseplants. They make any room feel like the missing piece was found. No matter how small a plant, a little bit of green just fills that space. Can't get enough. Never will. I have a lot more in my house than are pictured here. My mother and sister make fun of me. 

Moving!

I am so excited to say that God has provided us with a new place to live! After 7 months of living in the in-laws basement, we are finally moving into our own place. Since we've been married, we have only lived in basement apartments, so I was thrilled when this above ground place became available and is perfect for our price range. Its kind of amazing how living in basements makes you extremely appreciative of features like "normal windows". So, while we are still in the stage of taking what furniture we can get for free, I'm hoping to make this place really feel like our own and spend some good time and effort making it fit our style. The one thing Horace asked me to do is to incorporate antlers:)

Guest Post from Kelsey Design!

Many thanks to Jen for having me on Jt & the Sea today! I recently began my blog, Kelsey Design, and am very grateful for Jen's support.

Her little boy is the bee's knees and he's a pretty lucky guy to have a mama who photographs him so well. It helps his fans on the West Coast feel apart of his life:) In anticipation of Baby O's new room, here is a storyboard design incorporating his mama's love of blue and the sea with a big boy look that will grow with Owen.

This space is very versatile. Each piece has a link to purchase or these ideas can easily be turned into DIYs. Here's how:

1. Paint your existing or thrifted crib gray

2. Paint your existing or thrifted dresser a marine blue

3. Install brass pulls (purchase new or spray paint existing hardware) 

4. Ebay or thrift a mid-century modern chair and upholster in this yellow trellis fabric

And of course, this would not be a complete Trovato room without some Horace & Mae prints! 

What I personally love about this crib is this conversion kit. It makes the transition from baby to toddler seamless. Plus, this changing station saves space in tight quarters.

Baby Space

The nursery corner is coming together! 

Last week we got a great dresser/changing table on craigslist for a steal and I had been dying to clean it up and get some things in place. As of yesterday, its all clean and pretty much ready for my kiddo. Now all that is left to do is hang up some pictures and find a little crib. I was surprised by how little space we actually have for a crib, so I don't think the traditional crib size is going to work for us. But we'll make it work:) 

Once we get everything in place, I'll post the big (or small:) reveal!

Baby Space

You may know that we live in a teeny little 1 bedroom apartment right now, which we really love. It can, however, pose a space problem when we add a little one to our crew. Our bedroom is good sized, but the lack of storage space in our apartment makes our room a bit of a holding cell for summer clothes boxes and print enlargers and such... While we're looking for a new bigger place, we're just going to have our bambino sleep in our room, which I hear is pretty normal anyways for the first few months. So, I've been trying to gather some inspiration for making a little nursery corner of our room so that it doesn't feel like we just stuck a crib in there.

Speaking of cribs, I'm borrowing a co-sleeper that my sister has for the first few weeks, so that should save on some space initially. I'm hoping to find a small basinette that might work for a while with the small area we have available. I've seen quite a few that are gorgeous and I hope to find one that will work for us.

I'm looking for a small dresser to fit in there for the babies clothes - I might even be able to sneak a drawer or two from my and my husband's dressers...and then have a changing table on top of the dresser, rather than buying an entire unit. I also love the idea of a changing table on top of the crib (if we end up with a crib).

For decorating, I'm thinking of a cute mobile and some wall pictures. I'm sorry, but sailboats/nautical stuff just get me, so most likely it will look something like this:
