Mailbox Love

Owen and I have been blessed with so much mailbox love lately. There is something so gratifying about walking to your mailbox and getting a little surprise from a sweet friend. I just wanted to show you some of the amazingly talented and thoughtful friends that God has given me:) 

While we were at the hospital with Owen, my sister brought us some things from home, one of which was this happy package from our friends in Idaho Christy and Brian. Christy is a really talented seamstress and shows off some of her awesome projects on her blog. Annnnd they're expecting a little boy this fall! This one was delivered the old fashioned way. Mimi is the sister of my pastor so when we connected through each others blogs and Etsy shops she decided to send a little gift by hand. My pastor's wife gave this to us at church and it was just so sweet seeing Mimi's thoughtfulness. Check out her blog Vibrant Designs by Mimi and take a look at her store here. Thanks Mimi!! 

Becca is one of my best friends from college and she first taught me how to knit (I'm still working on the same scarf I started when she showed me the ropes:) She sent Owen a very special blanket the is the maritime flag for the letter 'O'. We just love it.

Karyn and I went to college together and I still remember a little project she did about writing letters by hand and being inspired by Wendell Berry. Well, sure enough every now and again i get a little note from Karyn that brightens my day, including the cutest little booties for Owen Thank ya Karyn!

Naomi has the prettiest blog out there. Everything about her blog makes me think of springtime and open windows, and she just had a little baby girl that makes her blog even prettier. She sent over the cutest little (big:) bow tie for Owen, which was one of the accessories my husband was most excited about dressing our boy in:) It also happened to be chambray, my favorite. 36 Weeks

Just about one month left! 

We live right next to the light rail line, so every now and then we'll have a little picnic next to it and wait for the squeel of the train to roll around the corner. My mom gave us some delicious little cakes and we made some coffee to finish off the meal. 

I love how summer seems to sneak up on you. I remember feeling like it was never going to be warm enough to sit outside with bare feet and now we already feel the need for some swimming. 

Hopefully, the boats will come out soon and we'll get some time on the water and some sunburn on our shoulders!

Sweet Lauren over at Ellie Soo sent me the sweetest little gift last week. She makes these lovely cards and stationery, so she sent me a whole slew of those along with these adorable onesies, a hand-painted tote and a little pack of on-the-go essentials. It was such a kind surprise and I was so blessed by her thoughtfulness:)

Sweet Friends and Mailbox Love

I just love waddling out to the front of our apartment in the afternoon, squinting my eyes after being inside at the computer all morning and opening up that little oblong box that has our name misspelled. Some days, its just ads and pennysavers, but every now and again, a sweet little note or box from a friend will be sitting in the mailbox that just makes me waddle back inside as fast as I can to open it.

My precious (and gorgeous) friend Anastasia sent me a little something this last week that made my husband make a sound I have never heard from him, something like a giggle/laugh/coo. It was weird, but the perfect expression of how awesome this little present is. Anastasia is an awesome knitter and she made us this incredible little lion for our baby boy! I can't wait for him to snuggle with it.

Rachel, another gorgeous friend of mine, is just the best at sending little notes and letters. They always feel so heartfelt and thoughtful and of course with handwriting and words like hers, make you feel like your looking at a letter from Jane Austen. She is so awesome at keeping in touch and makes me feel like she's always thinking of me:) She recently sent me a little envelope with a couple of pages and some tea. Oh how sweet it was to sip and read and feel like we're not hundreds of miles apart!

I am so blessed with wonderful friends who inspire me with their kindness. I think one of the greatest things I've learned from these and other ladies is that no matter how small or how random or how "just checking in on you" a note is, it is always met with a heart that needed it at that exact moment.

Week 32

My mother in law took me on a spur of the moment shopping trip last week and I feel so much better with some pretty clothes. What a difference it is to just have more choices! I was also given a whole bag of pretty much brand new Old Navy capris, shorts and jeans from a friend and they fit me perfectly. What a great surprise. 

It's week 32 and everything is going along great! We're still working on a full name, but we're pretty settled on Owen for at least part of his name:) My mom and sister are throwing a baby shower for me this Saturday and I can't wait to hang out and enjoy the excitement of my baby boy. It amazes me how much he is loved already by so many people. I can't wait for him to meet all of the incredible people God has put in my life.

On another note, my mailbox has had quite some excitement lately. As I mentioned last time, we got an adorable little outfit from friends in ID this week, along with a beautiful wedding invite and some cute stationary from the shop Ellie Soo.

Rainy Days

This weather is weird. One day, its 85 degrees, the next its 50. I switched our bed cover over to this nice white blanket and now all we want is our big fluffy duvet back. I do like that my slippers are back in use:)

opening a precious little package from even sweeter friends in Idaho
