Swaddling 101

Lay the swaddle out with one corner folded down in a triangle. Put your cute little guy on the corner, with his shoulders aligned even with the fold.

Hold his arm down next to his side and wrap the right corner over his body so that the fabric is tight across his chest. Hold the fabric tight, roll him on his side and tuck the fabric under his butt.

Fold the bottom corner up to his left shoulder. No need to make this super tight.

Pin his left arm down to his side and wrap the left corner across his body tightly. Again roll him over and wrap it under his butt. Roll him back over on his back and pull the fabric that is under his butt nice and tight. If there is extra fabric, tuck it in one of the folds.
Once they get a little bigger, you can leave one or both arms out of the top and just do all the wrapping under their arm pits.

You should end up with a cozy happy little dude!

Like I mentioned back here, the Faye & Lou Cozio Rainbow Muslins are great for making a tight swaddle, and they come in the most adorable bright colors. If you are using a larger swaddle, instead of just folding down one little corner to start the swaddle, fold the opened square into a big triangle and lay your baby in the center of the hypotenuse (you thought you'd never use geometry in real life, didn't you?) and do the rest of the steps the same.

Happy Swaddling!

    1. It works like a charm! Every now and again Owen will flail a bit as I'm swaddling him, but then it calms him right down:)
